Valley of Flowers Trek Itinerary

Day 1: Rishikesh to Joshimath

  • Altitude: 1,890 meters

Board your vehicle from Rishikesh in the morning as the early sun guides your journey deep into the Himalayas. Enjoy a breathtakingly scenic drive tracing the roaring Alaknanda River, passing emerald valleys, and navigating dramatic cliffside bends. By afternoon, you will arrive in the vibrant mountain town of Joshimath to settle into your cozy hotel.

Spend a relaxed evening exploring local sights and acclimatizing to the altitude. It is the perfect opportunity to recharge your spirit and prepare for the epic trek beginning the next day.

Day 1 – Highlights

Day 2: Joshimath to Ghangaria

Fuel up with a healthy, nutritious breakfast before hitting the road to Pulna, the official starting point of your trek. A scenic 45-minute drive covering 25 km from Joshimath, this quick road journey bridges the gap between cozy comfort and the untamed wilderness ahead.

The trek begins from Pulna and follows the Pushpawati River through scenic mountain trails, waterfalls, forests, and suspension bridges. The route gradually ascends toward the picturesque settlement of Ghangaria, which serves as the base for the Valley of Flowers and Hemkund Sahib. Overnight stay at guesthouse/camp.

Day 2 – Highlights

  • The Roaring River Trail: Hike alongside the powerful, crashing waters of the Pushpawati River winding through the valley.

Today is dedicated to exploring the Valley of Flowers National Park. Walk through vast alpine meadows blooming with Himalayan flowers including blue poppies, primulas, and Himalayan orchids during peak season. Streams, waterfalls, and dramatic mountain backdrops add to the beauty of the valley. Return to Ghangaria for overnight stay.

Day 3 – Highlights

  • The Glacial Gateway: Cross a rustic wooden bridge over the rushing Pushpawati River as you officially enter the national park.
  • A Living Canvas: Step into an endless ocean of color, where over 500 species of alpine wildflowers paint the valley floor.

After spending time at the gurudwara and lake, descend back to Ghangaria for overnight stay.

Day 4 – Highlights
