About Valley of Flowers

Valley of Flowers National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its alpine meadows, rare Himalayan flowers, waterfalls, and glacier-fed streams. During the monsoon season, the valley transforms into a vibrant landscape filled with colorful wildflowers surrounded by snow-covered peaks.

Valley of Flowers Trek Itinerary

Day 1: Govindghat to Ghangaria

  • Altitude: 3,050 meters
  • Trek Distance: 10 km
  • Trek Duration: 6–7 hours

The trek begins from Govindghat and follows the Pushpawati River through scenic mountain trails, waterfalls, forests, and suspension bridges. The route gradually ascends toward the picturesque settlement of Ghangaria, which serves as the base for Valley of Flowers and Hemkund Sahib. Overnight stay at guesthouse/camp.

Day 2: Explore Valley of Flowers and return to Ghangaria

  • Altitude: 3,658 meters
  • Trek Distance: 8 km
  • Trek Duration: 5–6 hours

Today is dedicated to exploring the Valley of Flowers National Park. Walk through vast alpine meadows blooming with Himalayan flowers including blue poppies, primulas, and Himalayan orchids during peak season. Streams, waterfalls, and dramatic mountain backdrops add to the beauty of the valley. Return to Ghangaria for overnight stay.

Day 3: Ghangaria to Hemkund Sahib and back

  • Altitude: 4,329 meters
  • Trek Distance: 12 km
  • Trek Duration: 7–8 hours

The day begins with a steep ascent toward Hemkund Sahib, one of the world’s highest Sikh shrines situated beside a glacial lake. Surrounded by snow-covered peaks, the location offers both spiritual significance and stunning Himalayan beauty. After spending time at the gurudwara and lake, descend back to Ghangaria for overnight stay.

Day 4: Ghangaria to Govindghat

  • Trek Distance: 10 km
  • Trek Duration: 5–6 hours

Descend through forests and mountain trails back to Govindghat. The route offers beautiful final views of waterfalls, rivers, and Himalayan valleys before the trek concludes.
