About Dev Roopa Trek
The Dev Roopa Trek is an off-beat Himalayan journey that leads through the mixed terrain of forests, river valleys, alpine meadows, and high grasslands. The name “Dev Roopa” translates to “Descent of God,” referring to the sacred and serene valley stall of wide grasslands against a backdrop of towering peaks. The trail explores the ancient Malana region, quiet forests, and open highland meadows rarely touched by mass tourism.
Best Time to visit: June to October – clear skies and lush meadows.
Trek Grade: Moderate to Difficult – good fitness and some trekking experience recommended.
Water Points: Seasonal streams – carry purification tablets.
Flora & Fauna: Forests of pine, oak, rhododendron; occasional sightings of Himalayan birds.
Day 1 – Arrival at Kasol & Transfer to Waichin Valley
Arrive at Kasol (Himachal Pradesh); meet the Himalayan Getaways team and complete briefing. Drive to Waichin Valley near Malana—a scenic starting point nestled in Parvati Valley. Short walk to camp, evening orientation, gear check, and acclimatization.
Overnight: Camp at Waichin Valley
Drive: ~1 hour from Kasol
Day 2 – Waichin to Bogdi Campsite
Begin the trek through oak, pine, and deodar forests alongside meandering streams. You’ll notice a gentle climb to Bogdi campsite, surrounded by rhododendron and alpine flora. Enjoy panoramic mountain views and a peaceful evening by the camp.
Trek: ~8–10 km
Time: ~5–6 hrs
Overnight: Bogdi Camp
Day 3 – Bogdi to Lambadugh & Approach Dev Roopa Plains
Continue ascending through mixed forest and meadow trails. The trail opens into rolling ridges and expansive views as you approach Lambadugh. The alpine landscape now frames glimpses of distant Himalayan summits.
Trek: ~7–9 km
Time: ~5–6 hrs
Overnight: Lambadugh Camp
Day 4 – Summit Day: Lambadugh to Dev Roopa Plateau & Back
The most rewarding day—ascend toward the Dev Roopa Plateau (≈4,200 m). Vast grasslands appear like a natural amphitheater of meadows and streams set against towering peaks. Spend time exploring, photographing, and taking in the wide Himalayan panoramas before descending back to Lambadugh.
Trek: ~10–12 km round trip
Time: ~8–9 hrs
Overnight: Lambadugh Camp
Day 5 – Trek Down to Waichin & Return to Kasol
Descend through the scenic trail back to Waichin Valley. Transfer by vehicle to Kasol for departure. The trail back gives a chance to observe flora and fauna missed on ascent.
Trek: ~8–10 km
Time: ~4–5 hrs
Drive: Return to Kasol
