Kedar Tal Trek Itinerary

Day 1: Gangotri to Bhoj Kharak

  • Altitude: 3,780 meters
  • Trek Distance: 8 km
  • Trek Duration: 5–6 hours

The trek begins from the sacred town of Gangotri. The trail gradually climbs through pine forests and rugged mountain paths alongside the Kedar Ganga River. The route involves steep ascents and rocky sections with stunning views of surrounding Himalayan peaks. Reach Bhoj Kharak campsite by evening for overnight stay.

Day 2: Bhoj Kharak to Kedar Kharak

  • Altitude: 4,270 meters
  • Trek Distance: 5 km
  • Trek Duration: 4–5 hours

Today’s trail becomes steeper and more rugged as you move higher into the glacial valley. Cross boulder sections and narrow mountain ridges while enjoying breathtaking views of Thalay Sagar and Bhrigupanth peaks. Reach the scenic campsite at Kedar Kharak surrounded by towering mountains. Overnight camping.

Day 3: Kedar Kharak to Kedar Tal and return to Kedar Kharak

  • Altitude: 4,750 meters
  • Trek Distance: 10 km
  • Trek Duration: 7–8 hours

Begin early for the trek to Kedar Tal, one of the most beautiful glacial lakes in Uttarakhand. The turquoise lake reflects the towering Thalay Sagar peak creating a spectacular Himalayan landscape. Spend time exploring the lake and surrounding glacier terrain before descending back to Kedar Kharak campsite for overnight stay.

Day 4: Kedar Kharak to Bhoj Kharak

  • Trek Distance: 5 km
  • Trek Duration: 4–5 hours

Descend carefully through the rocky Himalayan trail back toward Bhoj Kharak campsite. Enjoy changing mountain perspectives and peaceful alpine surroundings during the descent.

Day 5: Bhoj Kharak to Gangotri

  • Trek Distance: 8 km
  • Trek Duration: 5–6 hours

Continue descending through forests and mountain trails back to Gangotri. The trek concludes with final views of the Garhwal Himalayas and the sacred Bhagirathi valley.
