About Ruinsara Tal

Ruinsara Tal is a serene alpine lake located in the Govind Wildlife Sanctuary near the Har Ki Dun valley. Surrounded by snow-clad peaks, lush forests, and alpine meadows, the trek offers a peaceful Himalayan experience with rich biodiversity and beautiful mountain scenery. The lake is believed to hold mythological significance linked to the Mahabharata.

Ruinsara Tal Trek Itinerary

Day 1: Osla to Seema

  • Altitude: 2,560 meters
  • Trek Distance: 5 km
  • Trek Duration: 3–4 hours

The trek begins from the traditional Himalayan village of Osla. The trail follows the Supin River through dense forests, wooden bridges, and scenic mountain landscapes. Reach Seema campsite located beside the river and surrounded by lush greenery. Overnight stay in tents.

Day 2: Seema to Ruinsara Tal

  • Altitude: 3,600 meters
  • Trek Distance: 12 km
  • Trek Duration: 6–7 hours

Today’s trail gradually ascends through alpine meadows, forests, and remote Himalayan valleys. The route offers magnificent views of snow-covered peaks and untouched wilderness. Reach the beautiful Ruinsara Tal lake by evening and camp beside the lake amidst peaceful mountain surroundings.

Day 3: Explore Ruinsara Tal

  • Altitude: 3,600 meters
  • Trek Duration: Leisure day

Spend the day exploring the alpine lake and surrounding meadows. The area offers spectacular views of Black Peak, Bandarpoonch, and Swargarohini ranges. Enjoy photography, short nature walks, and the tranquil Himalayan environment.

Day 4: Ruinsara Tal to Seema

  • Trek Distance: 12 km
  • Trek Duration: 5–6 hours

Descend gradually through forests and mountain trails back toward Seema campsite. Enjoy the scenic beauty and peaceful atmosphere of the Govind Wildlife Sanctuary during the return journey.

Day 5: Seema to Osla

  • Trek Distance: 5 km
  • Trek Duration: 3–4 hours

Complete the final descent back to Osla village through forested trails and river crossings, concluding the trek.
