About the Monal Top Trek
The Monal Top Trek is a hidden gem in Uttarakhand, perfect for trekkers who want big Himalayan views without extreme difficulty. Named after the Himalayan Monal bird, the trail moves through dense oak and rhododendron forests, wide alpine meadows, and scenic ridgelines. From the top, you get stunning views of peaks like Bandarpunch, Swargarohini, and the Gangotri range. Short, scenic, and peaceful, Monal Top is ideal for weekend adventurers and first-time high-altitude trekkers.
Day 1: Dehradun to Sankri to Taluka – Trek to Seema (2,560 m)
Drive from Dehradun to Sankri (approx. 8 hrs). After lunch, continue by road to Taluka. Start your trek through pine forests and along the Supin River. The trail is gentle and scenic with wooden bridges and village views. Reach Seema campsite by evening.

Trek: 4 km | Time: 2 hrs
Overnight: Camp / Guesthouse
Day 2: Seema to Monal Top (3,550 m) – Back to Seema
Start early and ascend through forests and open meadows. The trail becomes steeper as you approach the ridge. From Monal Top, enjoy panoramic views of snow-clad Himalayan ranges and wide valleys. Spend time at the summit and descend back to Seema.

Overnight: Camp
Day 3: Seema to Taluka – Drive to Dehradun
Descend to Taluka and drive back via Sankri to Dehradun. The trek concludes with memories of a quiet Himalayan summit.
